Call for Volunteers for our Competitive Tryouts

We are looking for volunteers for various roles to help us facilitate our competitive tryouts happening from April 27, 2025 - May 4, 2025. Your support is greatly appreciated and will help make our 2025-2026 competitive tryouts a success!

The roles we are looking for help for are the following:

  • Sign-in Desk Volunteer
  • Shot Clock Operator (Minor Official)
  • Timekeeper / Scorekeeper (Minor Official)
  • Trainer (had to have been registered for the 2024-2025 season)

If you are interested in volunteering, please use our registration tool to select a time slot that works best for you. Please note that if your child is trying out that you cannot volunteer for the same division they are trying out for (i.e. child trying out for U16A, you can only volunteer for U14A).

Competitive Tryouts for U14A and U16A

Good luck to all players participating in the MDRA U14A or U16A competitive teams this spring. Below is an important to-do list to ensure you are ready:

  1. Complete one of the ERRA Intent Forms
    1. U14 Intent Registration Form
    2. U16 Intent Registration Form
  2. Register for tryouts through RAMP.
  3. Ensure you are up to date on the tryout schedule, and advise us of any conflicts.

Further information will be shared as we get closer to tryouts, so please keep your eyes out for an email from mdracompetitive@gmail.com (it could end up in your junk folder).

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to our Director of Competitive who will be more than happy to help.

August Rust Buster Sessions

We will be offering rust buster sessions August 24, 25, 26 and 28. Mark your calendars and more details will follow soon.

Message from the President

On a personal note, I wanted to let you know that I will be stepping down as President as of the end of the season due to some big work commitments I have for this coming year. However, I plan to stay involved helping the association, just in a less formal role.  Katrina Munro, an experienced MDRA board member, has volunteered to step in as Interim President until the Annual General Meeting in June.

Annual General Meeting and Board Member Recruitment

We are currently recruiting new board members for the 25/26 season. If you are interested, please complete the Statement of Interest form by May 30, 2025. New Board Members will be voted-in at the Annual General Meeting Planned (AGM) for Sunday, June 22. If you have any questions or would like to discuss further, please reach out to any of our current board members. More details on the AGM will follow in the coming weeks.

You have a fantastic group of board members right now, but with only 7 of 12 board positions filled, they need help or we will have to scale back on plans for next year. Our most pressing need is for someone to take on the roles of Vice President Player Development and Director of Regional Programs. See more details below. These roles can be done as a board member or non-board member depending on preference.

VP of Player Development

  • Conduct a survey to seek feedback on our skills and power skating programs
  • Analyze registration numbers from previous years
  • Make recommendations for the 25/26 season
  • Recruit skills and power skating instructors as needed

Director of Regional Programs

  • Plan the schedule and logistics for fall sort-outs
  • Recruit volunteers to support sort-outs
  • Share information and instructions with families in preparation for sort-outs

Enjoy your summer. See you next season.
