The Metcalfe and District Ringette Association is proud to announce that Sierra McFarlane has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 MDRA Scholarship.
Sierra has been a dedicated member of the MDRA community since she first stepped onto the ice with the Metcalfe Hornets in 2012. Throughout her ringette career, she has demonstrated outstanding leadership, sportsmanship, and commitment to the sport both on and off the ice.
In addition to competing at the AA level, Sierra has dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours to MDRA through programs such as Bunnies, Come Try Ringette, tryouts and sort-outs, the MDRA Tournament, and as a Junior Coach with our U12A and U14A teams. She has also served as a Skill Builder at the Eastern Ontario Leadership Camp and as Master of Ceremonies at the MDRA Year-End Banquet. Her passion for supporting younger athletes and giving back to the ringette community has made a lasting impact on countless players and families.
This past season, despite an injury that brought an end to her playing career, Sierra continued to volunteer, coach, and mentor within our association, demonstrating the resilience, dedication, and character that make her such a deserving recipient of this award.
This fall, Sierra will attend Wilfrid Laurier University, where she will pursue studies in Kinesiology.
Congratulations, Sierra! We are incredibly proud of your accomplishments and grateful for everything you have contributed to MDRA. We wish you every success in your post-secondary studies and look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the future.
