Volunteer with MDRA - Get Involved and Make a Difference

MDRA is a volunteer-run organization that relies on the dedication, passion and ideas of our community. It takes many hands to create a positive and successful experience for our players - and there is a place for everyone.

Whether you have a lot of time to give or just a little, volunteering is a great way to meet other members of our ringette community, support our athletes and help make MDRA the best association it can be.

No prior experience is required. We have a strong support system in place, with current and past volunteers available to guide and mentor you throughout the season.

Board of Directors Opportunities

Want to have a bigger role in shaping the future of MDRA? Joining the Board of Directors is one of the best ways to help make positive change within our organization.

Our Board is made up of 9-12 members who work together to support all aspects of the association and make decisions that impact our players, families, volunteers and programs.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the MDRA Board in the following portfolio areas:

• Technical/Communications Director

• Director of Regional Programs

• Director at Large

You don't need to know everything about running a ringette association to be a Board member. We are looking for people who bring ideas, different perspectives, a willingness to listen and a desire to make a difference. Current Board members and volunteers will help you learn the ropes and support you along the way.

Director Eligibility Requirements

To serve as a Director, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old

• Not have been declared incapable by a court in Ontario

• Not be bankrupt

• Meet all Ringette Ontario requirements for directors and members

Board members serve two-year terms, to a maximum of three consecutive terms, in accordance with Ringette Ontario and MDRA bylaws.

We are currently looking for volunteers for roles including:

• Social Committee Member

• FUNdamentals Coordinator

• FUN1/2 Convenor

• FUN3 Convenor

• U12 Convenor

• U16 Convenor

These roles help support our programs, connect our members and keep the association running smoothly behind the scenes.

Every volunteer makes a difference, and these positions are a great way to get involved without committing to a Board position.

Bench Staff Opportunities

Our coaches, managers, trainers and other bench staff play an essential role in creating a positive, safe and development-focused experience for our athletes.

For the 2026-2027 season, MDRA has introduced a new bench staff application process. All bench staff volunteers must complete the appropriate application for their desired role before being assigned to a team.

This allows us to verify qualifications and required training in advance while maintaining a centralized list of interested and eligible volunteers. Head Coaches will then be able to select their bench staff from this list.

We have opportunities for:

• Head Coaches

• Assistant Coaches

• Junior Coaches

• On-Ice Assistants

• Team Managers

• Team Trainers

• Change Room Supervisors (Den Moms)

MDRA will reimburse eligible training and certification costs associated with volunteer roles. If you are interested in volunteering but aren't sure which role is the right fit, we encourage you to apply - we're always happy to help you find an opportunity that works for you.

New Volunteers Welcome!

You don't need years of experience to get involved with MDRA.

Maybe you've volunteered before. Maybe you've never volunteered at all. Maybe you've been thinking about getting more involved but aren't sure where to start.

That's okay!

Our current and past volunteers are here to help, and we'll support you throughout your time in the role. Volunteering is also a great opportunity to learn new skills, meet other members of the MDRA community and help shape the experience we provide for our athletes.
