Become an MDRA Junior Coach for the 2026-2027 Season!

Dear MDRA Members,

We hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful summer and looking forward to getting back on the ice this fall!

MDRA is excited to announce that Junior Coach applications are now open for the 2026-2027 season. This program provides young athletes with the opportunity to give back to the sport they love while developing valuable leadership, communication, and coaching skills.

Being a Junior Coach is a rewarding experience. Junior Coaches have the opportunity to mentor younger athletes, support player development, learn from experienced coaches, and become positive role models within our Ringette community.

Whether you are interested in exploring coaching as a future pathway or simply want to help younger athletes enjoy the sport you love, we encourage you to apply!

MDRA is committed to supporting our Junior Coaches throughout their coaching journey. We provide guidance and resources to help you succeed, and information regarding coaching qualifications and required certifications can be found on our website.

Junior Coach Eligibility Requirements:

• Minimum age: 14 years old (players may join mid-season once they turn 14)

• Maximum age: 17 years old as of September 1, 2026

• Must complete all required coaching modules by November 1, 2026

• Maximum of two Junior Coaches per team bench staff

• Junior Coaches cannot be assigned to a team within their own age division or older

Required Coaching Modules (to be completed by November 1, 2026):

• Coach Initiation in Sport Online Module
• Making Head Way eLearning Module
• Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders OR Safe Sport - Direct Athlete Contact

Junior Coaches may request specific teams or coaches they would like to work with; however, placement requests cannot be guaranteed. MDRA will assign Junior Coaches based on team needs, availability, experience, and the overall needs of the association.

Unless otherwise agreed upon by the majority of parents, travel-related expenses for Junior Coaches are not the responsibility of the team.
